A Big Accomplishment - LASD Graduation

So this post is super behind, but that doesn't mean I can't write about it right? At the beginning of April we celebrated a really big thing in our family. My brother-in-law graduated from the Sheriff's Academy. This has been a lifelong dream of his, and despite the waiting, many long hours of training and everything in between his hard work, patience and dedication has finally paid off. I mean that's what being a Sheriff is all about really.

We went to his pre-graduation family night and was fed yummy foods, important to preggos, watched a funny/eye opening video on what training really is, and there were also awards. It was interesting to look at the photo's that were taken and just see my hubby's little bro in action, all-be-it in a closed situation. Something that we will not get to see on a daily basis. I found it incredibly interesting and very honorable.

A couple of days later was the actual ceremony. They marched along around the campus of our local community college. It's very nice to see a large group of people so in sync with one another. There was a pinning ceremony, which I did not get to see but the hubby did, I was in the auditorium trying to reserve our seats. The actual graduation was relatively short. With speakers and of course receiving their certificates of completion. My in-laws took their photos with him, and they also took a photo with the entire class.

After the ceremony we had a huge party in celebration of his accomplishment. Family and friends were all around to toast (I had cranberry juice) his success and wish him well in his upcoming career. Coming from a military background I truly honor and respect his decision to go into law enforcement. Thank you for taking the oath to keep us safe bro! We love you!

Chevron Stripes with the Weekend Update

Wow.....this post is super late today! Eep! Sorry. It was a crazy busy weekend! First off, can I say that I really don't like the update to the blogger app for IPhone. Every time I use it, it makes the quality of my photo's really poor and it formats them weird and left justified! I can't seem to fix it! Any advice? I guess I will just have to do it the ole fashion way....on the computer! Gasp!

Friday we did squat! I actually did some squats; ie; my squat challenge....110 squats. Boom. Other than that we had dinner and some beverages in the form of Blue Moon and watched our DVR.

Saturday, the hubby worked and I got up early to wrap the gift for the bridal shower and get everything ready for the day. I made this cute envelope for the bride to keep all of her honeymoon cash in. Got dressed in my new outfit and made my way to the shower. I was tasked with helping with the games, so I did the purse game and the winner happened to win because she had two mini margarita's stashed in her bag! The other game was you couldn't say the groom's name or you lost your badge. (see photo below) He is a sheriff and the badges had photos when he was little glued to them!

Dress New York and Company; Necklace and earrings: Lia Sophia; Sandals: Hand-me-down; Nailpolish: Julep "Gunta"
After the bridal shower, I picked up the hubby and we made our way over to our good friends college graduation party. There was a taco cart, cookies, snacks and of course CAKE. We stuffed our faces and chatted the evening away and forgot to take photos! OOPS! We celebrate her success anyways! YAY! Miss S!

Afterwards, we made our way to Relay for Life, if you haven't heard of it....it's a wonderful charity fundraiser for all types of cancer. While it's still hard for me to get through the luminarie presentation, its a wonderful event to support people in their fight or success in the battle of cancer, and to remember those who have lost their battle. The hubbs work is a big sponsor so he stayed the night to help man the booth, while I came home and actually slept! Shelby was very happy to be in the bed!

Sunday I got up and did my Saturday cleaning that I couldn't do. Shelby hates cleaning day because I don't just stay in one room....I'm constantly back and forth; stripping the sheets, to the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, organizing the kitchen, dusting.....the whole shebang. She also really hates that loud thing that sucks....(vacuum) hence why she is hiding just out of sight in the doorway to our bedroom.

One eye and an ear! But she can see me!

After all the cleaning, I finished up a project for a guest post that will be up at the beginning of June! Stay tuned for that! It's really cute.
The hubby cooked some hamburgers and I made smoothies for dessert. He went to bed fairly early (as only getting two hours sleep) and I spent the night re-watching The Tudors on Netflix and surfing Pinterest! I hope you had a great weekend! Looking forward to NEXT! Memorial Day and three days off! Linking up with Sami's Shenanigans!

The Graduate

This past weekend we went up to San Luis Obispo for Darin's sister's college graduation. In 2007 she was accepted to Cal Poly's Animal Science program and after 3.75 years, many awards, and Dean's List she graduated Cum Laude, just .01 percent away from Magna Cum Laude. Something to be proud of for sure, also a reason to celebrate. So Saturday morning Darin and I awoke bright and early to make the 2.5 hour drive up through the coast. It was a perfect day, and the sun came out just in time for the graduation. Over 2000 students and all their families piled into Spanos Stadium for the 2 hour ceremony. The only thing was the speakers were set up so poorly that we could only hear the echo off the opposing sides bleachers. Afterward, each major had their own name ceremony in individual lots around the school. We watched as she accepted her "diploma" and then it was photo time. The 2011 graduating class had a large photo on the steps of the business building. We did our own photos and then made the trek back to the car for dinner. Unfortunately because of the extreme amount of people it took well over an hour walking and driving just to get out of the school, so we missed our reservation for dinner. Luckily, Cailee's fiance worked at Giuseppes in downtown Pismo and they were able to squeeze us into a table! We ate some wonderful Italiano and had some funfetti cupcakes baked by yours truly. It was a great day and a wonderful time spent with Darin's parents, grandparents, and of course the Graduate and her fiance.

What's next for her? She has been accepted into Western School in Pomona for Veterinary Science. In another 4 years, she will be a vet. We are proud of you Cailee and looking forward to the next celebration!
Beautiful Day
