Chevron Stripes with the Weekend Update

Wow.....this post is super late today! Eep! Sorry. It was a crazy busy weekend! First off, can I say that I really don't like the update to the blogger app for IPhone. Every time I use it, it makes the quality of my photo's really poor and it formats them weird and left justified! I can't seem to fix it! Any advice? I guess I will just have to do it the ole fashion way....on the computer! Gasp!

Friday we did squat! I actually did some squats; ie; my squat challenge....110 squats. Boom. Other than that we had dinner and some beverages in the form of Blue Moon and watched our DVR.

Saturday, the hubby worked and I got up early to wrap the gift for the bridal shower and get everything ready for the day. I made this cute envelope for the bride to keep all of her honeymoon cash in. Got dressed in my new outfit and made my way to the shower. I was tasked with helping with the games, so I did the purse game and the winner happened to win because she had two mini margarita's stashed in her bag! The other game was you couldn't say the groom's name or you lost your badge. (see photo below) He is a sheriff and the badges had photos when he was little glued to them!

Dress New York and Company; Necklace and earrings: Lia Sophia; Sandals: Hand-me-down; Nailpolish: Julep "Gunta"
After the bridal shower, I picked up the hubby and we made our way over to our good friends college graduation party. There was a taco cart, cookies, snacks and of course CAKE. We stuffed our faces and chatted the evening away and forgot to take photos! OOPS! We celebrate her success anyways! YAY! Miss S!

Afterwards, we made our way to Relay for Life, if you haven't heard of it....it's a wonderful charity fundraiser for all types of cancer. While it's still hard for me to get through the luminarie presentation, its a wonderful event to support people in their fight or success in the battle of cancer, and to remember those who have lost their battle. The hubbs work is a big sponsor so he stayed the night to help man the booth, while I came home and actually slept! Shelby was very happy to be in the bed!

Sunday I got up and did my Saturday cleaning that I couldn't do. Shelby hates cleaning day because I don't just stay in one room....I'm constantly back and forth; stripping the sheets, to the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, organizing the kitchen, dusting.....the whole shebang. She also really hates that loud thing that sucks....(vacuum) hence why she is hiding just out of sight in the doorway to our bedroom.

One eye and an ear! But she can see me!

After all the cleaning, I finished up a project for a guest post that will be up at the beginning of June! Stay tuned for that! It's really cute.
The hubby cooked some hamburgers and I made smoothies for dessert. He went to bed fairly early (as only getting two hours sleep) and I spent the night re-watching The Tudors on Netflix and surfing Pinterest! I hope you had a great weekend! Looking forward to NEXT! Memorial Day and three days off! Linking up with Sami's Shenanigans!

Backyard Bridal Shower

My mom has a friend Mrs. T.They have been friends since high school! That's over 30 years people! We'll her daughter is getting married in August, someone I have known probably 20 years.....give or take. Mom and I were both so excited for her that we both jumped in feet first to help out! when it was time for her bridal shower, Mrs. T asked that I help by creating some fun games for the shower. I opened up my brain and pulled out the funnest games I could think of from the various other showers I had either attended or given.

We did the "Pass the Basket" game, a general ice breaker game where you read out a series of phrases and pass the basket until the final poem where the person keeps it. My aunt did "Guess the Celebrity Bride" for my shower so I revamped it. Taking a picture of a bride and Photoshopping a celebrities face to it. Guests have to guess the celebrity. The "Love Music" game. Where I took snippets of various songs that had the word 'Love' in the lyrics and guests had to guess the song title and artist for points. We ended the games with "What's in Your Purse?" I read out an item that many women keep in their purse...pen, chapstick, tampon, etc. The first person to pull the item out of their purse got a raffle ticket, most tickets win! All the prizes my mom made. A handbag, a water bottle holder with a strap, and calendar covers for your purse.

We had great food and wonderful desserts provided by the bride-to-be's M.O.H. and bridesmaids. They threw a wonderful shower. Once it was gift opening time we all sat and watched her open prize after prize! Getting married is so fun! A family friend made her rehearsal bouquet out of ribbon and paper plates...and I snapped away photos. Can't wait to celebrate with them on their I Do date! Congratulations!

As we lay the Westinghouse to rest

Ok, I suck at follow through I guess. I promised you an update of our Vegas vacation 2 weeks ago and I haven't done it yet! SO SORRY! I have all the photos ready to go and in the post, I just have to write it! I have a couple more posts and some crafts in the pipeline too so bear with me!

Anyways, I sit here writing to you today whilst looking at the computer on my 32" LCD TV in our bedroom. I received a phone call from my mom's bestest friend in the whole world from high school. Her daughter is getting married in August and her bridesmaids are just super busy. She asked if I had any bridal shower games and if I wouldn't mind putting a couple of them together for the shower in 2 weeks. UM YES! I have soo many to choose from! So while I was getting my brain focused and in order, I knew that the one game that I wanted to do, a music game, needed a little revision. It's done as a video clip now, and I needed to figure out a way to get it onto a cd form. While D fired up the computer we saw the magic thinking screen. Then all of a sudden.....blackness!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH our monitor went out! NOOOOOO! How am I to pin, and edit photos, and blog???!!!! Away I went looking at Amazon, on my handy dandy crackberry, to see how much new flat screen monitors are running. When D came home later in the evening (boys night out), I heard him shuffling around in the bedroom. When I came in, I saw him tearing apart the desk and hooking up the hard drive to our TV! Just so I could do the games for the shower! (and pin, and edit photos, and blog!) Greatest husband award goes to....buuudumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdumdum (this is a drum roll, I know you never would have guessed)......D!

This is only a temporary situation and we will need to get a new monitor, because sitting on our bed with the keyboard and mouse cords stretched out across the aisle really isn't good flow, but it works for now and we have a GIANT monitor! We can watch anything! The possibilities are endless!

Until next time, soon too! I promise!

A Blue and Yellow Country Shower

This past weekend was my best friends Blue and Yellow Country Bridal Shower. After months of planning and organizing the day had arrived. I spent the evening before helping her mom get organized and set up, and the next day my mom and I arrived early to begin the day. We set up all the rest of the tables and got the food organized. The Bride-To-Be's little bro and father were the only males in attendance because we needed somebody to take photo's and to do the heavy lifting, but we all enjoy their company so having a little testosterone around wasn't a big deal. I helped K-Mo with his camera to get all the settings right for the day and even was able to get a couple of shots of my own.

Once all the guests arrived we took our mason jars and filled them to the brim with Sangria or Spiked Sweet Tea and proceeded to pile the plates with wonderfully yummy food. We chatted and shared lots of memories and funny stories. Once lunch was over, it was game time. We had a variety of fun loving games including the music game and the toilet paper wedding dress fashion show. We giggled and had a wonderful time. Even the bride got in on the action with her own special "How Well Do You Know the Groom" Game. Every time she got an answer wrong she had to eat a bubblicious bubble gum. I wont let on to how many she got wrong, but she wasn't a happy camper at the end of it as she slightly resembled a chipmunk! Teehee. It was all in good fun though. She then opened gifts and we played bridal bingo. After thoroughly exhausting every piece of wrapping paper and ribbon (she didn't break a single one!) we then had cake. The ladies that were still left moseyed outside to sit under the twinkling lights and the beautiful summer sky. I personally think that it was a wonderful day, a little warm but that was to be expected in late August. The Bride-To-Be was stunning and we had a wonderful time. I hope that it was everything she expected and more.

Here are some photos that I got:

It's in the bag - Bridal Shower Gift

I tend to hate giving items off of a person's registry. I mean yes.....its stuff they need/want, but it seems so impersonal. I really like to give things that have meaning and something that the bride and groom will remember for a lifetime. I mean really, 30 years from now are you going to remember who gave you that crystal vase or your set of towels that you got rid of 25 years ago? Probably not. So my mom and I came up with an idea. A Honeymoon beach bag! Filled with all the necessary items that any couple would need for a perfect day on the beach. My mom had a kit for a really large bag, 15 x 24 or something like that! So we got to picking fabrics and she went sewing away.

Of course she didn't stop there. Oh no, she had extra fabric so she went and made a little clutch to hold any various items that one would need: Cash (for those Umbrella-ed Fruity Cocktails on the beach), chap stick, hair ties, room keys.....etc. Complete with a zipper and a wrist strap so as to not lose anything! (My mom rocks!)

I had the idea to put beach towels in the bag and embroider them. I saw them being sold online, but it was over $40, plus shipping?!?! What? My mom and I could do this better, with a better product and it would be completely perfect! We went to the store and found some chaise lounge towels, only to realize (after we had embroidered on one already) that they were different sizes! AH! Since my mom had bought the last one we went on a internet search looking for them.....well we found one......in Inglewood. My mom and her cousin took a day trip (an experience that they wont soon forget) to pick up this bad boy so that both the bride and groom would have matching towels. Of course as they are lying on their lounge chairs in the Bahama's nobody will have any question as to their Newlywed status as Mr. & Mrs. are embroidered in contrasting colors along the foot of the towels. Yay!

Bride Towel
Both of them together!
Of course the bag wouldn't be complete without the his and hers "Just Married," that leave impressions in the sand, flip flops. Also included in the bag was bottled water, sunscreen, hair ties, chapstick, a rhinestone hair clip (for the brides hair to be sparkly) and a disposable underwater camera. Of course they will need their sunglasses and swimsuits, but other than that they are prepared for a perfect honeymoon in paradise!

We know that the newlyweds probably wont pack all these items to bring with them on their honeymoon. We just wanted to include a nice and unique piece of ourselves for them to remember.
