Memorial Day Weekend 2018

So I posted......hmmm a month ago stating that I wanted to get back into blogging. Oopsies. Well a month is better than a year! I want to share all the experiences that we have with our girls. It just makes sense. Including our travels...and even just our little adventures that we take along the way. Having these to look back on with them to remember fun times and the not so fun times as well. I will go back and post over the last couple of years the things that we have done!

First up, this years Memorial day weekend. Darin wanted to go camping, but we didn't plan far enough in advance (I.E. 6 months or more) and we weren't going to get in anywhere. So what's the next best thing? A trampoline park! YOU GUYS! I think Darin and I had as much fun as the girls, but we hurt so much more after. We are seriously out of shape! This summer we are getting out of the house more and moving our bodies.....getting back into shape. We did start off the weekend with a bike ride to get ice cream....counter productive I know. My bootay hurt from the bike seat....seriously need a cushy one!

Emma loves to share with her sissy!

On Sunday we went to the trampoline park......after much fighting to get the girls to eat lunch also! I mean how long does it take to eat a hot dog? If your Emma.....an HOUR! We left pretty late in the afternoon and ended up getting out to the trampoline park pretty late in the day. But it wasn't too busy which made it super enjoyable! We jumped for an hour and a half. Mommy practiced her toe jumps and didn't die in the process and we tried to teach Emma how to do a cartwheel. Addison just had a blast being launched around on the trampolines and running all over the place. The smiles on their faces speak volumes about how much fun they had. We will be going again!

After jumping we needed sustenance. Cue tepan grilling! We haven't had our favorite Japanese food in 3 years and it was desperately needed. Chicken, steak, fried rice and a mai tai for mommy (daddy was driving) and entertainment for the little ladies. I was a yummy perfect day!

To say we all passed out when we got home would be a gross understatement. I don't know how I even made it into Addison's room. I zombie'd her in there and fell asleep in the rocking chair along with her.

Monday we puttered around the house and worked on projects. Darin changed the oil on his truck....a task that was made tougher by the fact that some people don't get the meaning of the phrase "hand tight." The girls played in the planters and with bubbles while I sat watching their silliness in the sun repping my Air Force hat. Earlier in the day we prepped our front door for paint. Sanded, washed and pulled off some trim that was "altered" by previous owners. While the girls were napping I painted all the trim and got it ready for a final roller coat. Darin put on the finishing touches after he was done with the truck.

We ended the day with bbq'd chicken, Ferdinand the Bull and bathtime. I'd say that was a perfect weekend to share with my family! Thank you to all that serve and protect us on a daily basis and those that have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Asking the Godparents

When miss Emma came into our world it completely changed the dynamic. We weren't just a couple anymore, but a family. We needed to make the decision on whether or not we were going to baptize her in a faith. We come from similar but different backgrounds as a couple and it wasn't ever an issue until now when we needed to decide which faith to baptize her in and who should be her godparents.

It was a long discussion that has consumed us for many months and we finally made the decision, gotten all the paperwork submitted and the date booked for her actual baptism! Whew! I wanted it to be as far away from her first birthday an I could, but her Godmother wont be confirmed until May so we needed to wait. At least it gave me a little time to plan out an invite, more on that later, and to create these cute little cards.

If you have been reading for any amount of time, you know I don't do anything the simple way. It has to be cute, or creative in some way or another so onto the internet I went to find some verbage that I liked to create cards from Emma asking her godparents to take on the roll. I then glued them to cardstock and added some ribbon trims and some buttons to dress it up. I of course made them too large and they wouldn't fit in a traditional envelope but they were a hit regardless.

The verbage says:

"I need an extra pair of hands
to help me learn and grow.
I think that yours
would be the best
'cause Mom and Dad told me so.

Will you be my Godmother/father?"

Her godmother is going to be my baby cousin who was our flower girl at our wedding, since my cousin's are my siblings. Her Godfather is going to be D's brother who just loves his niece to pieces. I think we picked the people who will take on the role without question and will help guide her to be the best person she can be!

Can't wait for the actual day!

Emma Visits The Magic Kingdom

Have I been a little vacant this month? I am so sorry. We were preparing to go on a week long trip, we just got back on Sunday, and then we were gone on vacation and I didn't have time to schedule posts. So sorry! Also, I wrote Emma's 8 month update on the airplane and blogger didn't save it!!! :-( So here we are. March and I am posting about our trip to Disneyland that we took in December! Ahhh! I still need to write about Christmas and New Years also.

We of course needed to take Emma to Disneyland, and it of course needed to happen during the Christmas holiday because that's the most magical time of the year for me. We decided that we were going to make the hour long travel during her naptime, but about halfway there we stopped to buy a bike lock because we forgot ours....which proceeded to wake her up. Sigh. Then the new bike lock broke before we even got into the park. Thanks Target!

Anyways, we made it there parked, fed and diaper changed lil miss and we made our way into California Adventure. We proceeded to immediately get in line for The Little Mermaid ride. Once off her very first ride, grandma had purchased her a baby Ariel and baby Flounder souvenir.

We tooled around in California Adventure for a bit, but then made our way into Disneyland for some shopping and of course a photo in front of Walt, Mickey, and the snow covered castle. We had some lunch and then went and watched the Christmas Fantasy parade, which I once stared in! Emma wasn't super impressed, probably because it was naptime and fell asleep in daddies arms.

While she napped we hit Big Thunder Railroad and did some shopping and snacking. We also went on It's A Small World, once she was awake and she thoroughly enjoyed that! Because it was Christmastime the park was super busy. We spent most of our time waiting in lines or walking through people, but we managed. Once it was dark we made our way back over to CA and used our fast pass to ride the new Cars ride. It was fun and I had a lot of fun taking photos in the new land!

We tried our trusty front pack and she was happy as a clam and eventually fell asleep on daddies chest. We moseyed back over to DL and attempted to go on Winnie the Pooh, but it was closed. So we shopped some more and then went to ride Haunted Mansion, but miss Emma had other plans. She was officially done and told us so. Even though we didn't do everything we wanted, it was still so much fun to bring her to Disneyland and to have that wonderful first experience!

Watch Emma Grow - Month Seven

Sorry to be so late with this post guys. The month has just gotten away from me. Our little girl has just been moving and grooving. Just going through developments. This month we conquered the art of sitting on our own! It's been glorious for her because she can play and play and then topple over. She thinks it's hilarious. We army crawl around and get up on all fours. Rocking back and forth means it's coming, but we haven't fully crawled yet. Mommy and daddy are waiting on baited breath......**need to secure bookcase to wall and get cabinet door closers** She also loves her walker at grandma's and her jumper at home. Anything where she can work her legs she loves it. Her jumper is right in front of the television also, so we try and play her Baby Einstein DVD's when shes alert enough to care.

We started solid foods too! It was glorious to watch her figure things out. She makes the MMMM noise when she eats her oatmeal, loves banana's and sweet potato. She tends to make a huge mess, but its fun to play with our food right? We're doing a mixture of puree's and BLW and she's really good at picking up the food with a pincher grip!

Something less than fun, but a milestone none the less. Emma caught the flu for the first time. Waking up at 4am to a crying baby with a 101 degree temperature was so not fun. We gave her some Tylenol to cut the fever and the next day took her into the office. After being prescribed Tamiflu, we were well on our way to feeling better, until she coughed in mommy's face and gave it to her! We got another tooth, her right lateral incisor, and the left has been on its way out for a couple of weeks. Cue the drool and fussiness, but she tends to take the pain relatively well. We do give her Tylenol when she has a rough day just to soothe the pain. Cold teethers help also.

Bath time is still her favorite time of the evening. She eat solid foods while we eat our dinner and then off to bath with dad. She squeals and kicks and thoroughly enjoys all her toys. Our pup loves to watch her play, but when she gets too rambunctious in the tub she gets worried and tries to rescue her. After bath she gets nakey baby time in her room before its time to fall asleep. She found herself in the mirror and loves to "play" with the baby in her room. She giggles and hits the mirror and tries to figure her out. It's just precious!

This Month Stats:
Weight: 16 lbs 1 ozs (27%) Follow up flu booster

Last Month Stats:
Weight: 14 lbs 7 ozs (20%)
Height: 25.5" (38%)
Head: 17.25" (84%)
Updated weight: 15lbs (24%)

Eat: Still going strong with the breastmilk. I'm still taking the supplement and can pump between 11 and 12 ounces over three sessions. With the introduction of solids it's hard figuring out when to feed her solids and still give her the breast enough. I always try to feed her the breast before any solid foods so she will continue to breastfeed. Usually it's what she wants anyways. I will offer the breast every two to three hours. More often than not she will take it.

Sleep: Ahhhh sleep. Some nights I get a glorious three hour span....maybe four....not very often. Naps are still ridiculous. She's sticking to a two nap schedule and she likes it like that! Honestly if she's not asleep past 4pm....but no later than 530....she is a beast at 7pm. So tired and cranky! But what can we do. We try to keep her on a schedule but it just isn't fail safe! Nighttime is better. She's usually asleep by 8:15 and will stay asleep until about 10-11pm when she wakes. I nurse her back to sleep and shes usually ok until about 2-230am. Most nights its up in the air whether she wakes a million times or not....damn teeth!

Diapers: Sill in size twos. Back to Pampers! YAY!
