Powerhouse, Books and a lot of Excitement!

HEYO! Wow, I didn't really do much social stuff this weekend because we were up north vising family! But I'm back with the weekend recap!

Thursday/Friday - This sight is not unusual in SoCal, however it is really early in the year to start fire season. We have had 3 wild fires in the past 2 weeks all in our little area. This one, they are calling the Powerhouse fire and it has burned over 20K acres. It's going to be a long and dry summer so we are gearing up to see more smoke! Friday, we threw everything in a couple of bags and hit the road (D already brought pup to the Laws house) and made the 3 hour drive up....despite the MANY construction zones and white knuckling areas.

Once we arrived our Goddaughter took no time in getting us situated in her routine.....meaning your going to chase her around the house for an hour, then D got to "read" her 20+ books while trying to keep his attention to conversation and the movie. Finally at 2AM little miss was so tired that she cried herself to sleep. Poor thing didn't want to miss any excitement!

Saturday - We awoke, played and ate breakfast. Then we got ready to head out to the Zoo. It was in the triple digits so we pounded back the water and wandered around looking at all the animals. I liked the Sea Lion exhibit and the Poison Dart frogs! They are so colorful and teeny! Why do they have to be poisonous! Also, little miss didn't want to walk but Uncle D nor Daddy was good enough....she wanted me! Awe.....until the third hour when my shoulders and back were screaming! I'm not used to carrying 40 pounds for three hours, but it was totally worth it!

After the zoo, we had ice cream and made lots of messes! After that we prepped for dinner until we got a phone call from my cousin. She (mom) had gone to a b-day party and on her way home the car overheated and broke down 45 minutes from home. We rallied together and D and I baby sat while my cousin drove to rescue her. On their way home, poor things got pulled over and at least did not get a ticket! Whew! We enjoyed our evening with little miss watching movies, reading books, and cuddling. I could have lived without the Barney movie though.

Sunday we were exhausted from the heat and excitement so we relaxed most of the morning. My cousin was enlisted to make a scrapbook page for an Eagle Scout function (his dad is the scout master) so we all helped by putting in some ideas and at the end he actually had fun. Scrapbooking is fun once you get an idea down, but honestly who asks a dozen teenager/adult men to make scrapbook pages?!!? I want to see how the other pages turned out!! After that we packed up, got our huggies and was on our way home.

It was a wonderful weekend and we were both so happy to see our family. It always makes me feel better to be around loved ones!!!

Baby Charlee turns 1!!

Last weekend we went up north to visit my cousin's to celebrate the birth of an upcoming baby into the world and our beautiful God daughter's 1st birthday. We awoke bright and early Saturday morning, loaded up the car and piled in for the 3 hour drive up past Fresno. We stopped for breakfast and continued on. With a little black and white trouble for other members of the party, we made it in one piece. Organized our gift for the baby shower and got cleaned up for party #1 of the weekend. My aunt and uncle had invited all of their friends over to their house for tacos, margaritas, and family. My all time favorite past time. We got caught up with all the cousins, made some new memories and celebrated the upcoming birth of my newest cousin, slated to arrive in spring Maggie Rose.

Sunday, we all awoke and got ready for the birthday party. 5 people, 1 bathroom. That was an interesting adventure. Poor Darin was cast to my grandparents room so he could get ready in peace. We ate breakfast and then made our way over to help with the party. 20 years ago, my cousins Nick, Anthony, Matt, Brianne and I all took a photo on a rock in their backyard. Considering that all of our cousin's were not in attendance I still felt like we needed to retake the photo anyways and then take another photo with the new cousins as well, Darin, Amy and Auburn. We ate great spaghetti and then present time! While the guest of honor had absolutely no interest in anything but eating, my cousin took the honor of opening the gifts. He insisted in reading every poem in every card out loud. Charlee got an amazing amount of stuff, which will happen when over 50 people show up! After it was cake smashing time! Charlee got her very own Belle cake and smushed it to smithereens.

It was a wonderful weekend full of family and fun! My favorite kind of weekend. Please enjoy the photos! :-)

Dauro's come to visit

It was a wonderful surprise to hear from my cousin Anthony early Tuesday of last week saying that he, his bride Amy, and their baby (our Goddaughter) Charlotte wanted to have dinner with us! They were down from Coarsgold for a not so fun event and were going to be in Palmdale. I invited them over for Taco Tuesday and had them stay the night, of course so we could get more baby time in! They arrived with baby and puppy Wendy (a dauchund) in tote and we headed upstairs. Of course after a little direction mishap on my part. We had a wonderful visit, Darin and I played with Charlee and Anthony played with Shelby, and Amy got a break. I think Shelby has found a new best friend!
I Love You!
Around 10PM we put on Revenge of the Bridesmaids (not recommended!) and around 11:30 decided that it was time to crash. I must give my cousin's credit! Between a crying baby and a barking Wendy it was hard for me to crash out. But in the end it was worth it for them to visit and they can come ANYTIME! Darin admitted to me earlier that evening as Charlee slept on his chest "There's nothing better than this!" Well maybe soon my love, maybe soon. Enjoy the photos!

I am a Godmother! Not the one that turns pumpkins into carriages!

Whew. What a whirlwind month February and the beginning of March have been. Wedding planning, birthdays, trips and baby showers. Last weekend I went to a bridal show to look into florists for my dear friend Hope's upcoming nuptials in October and went to our friend Shannon's baby shower where I took many photographs as seen here. I had posted before about the baby shower that my mom, aunts and cousin's had been planning for my newest cousin Amy and her new baby girl. In December she was put on bedrest and had little Miss Charlotte premature, so we had to wait to put on the shower but if you wanna read about planning and projects please see Babies, Babies, Babies or Invites, games, and music! Oh My!. My mom and I made some crafts, and my cousin's hubby (who works in the special effects department on CSI Miami) made a wooden closet/toy chest at work to put all of our gifts in. Well all of our hardwork and planning came to fruition this weekend as the shower was held at my Aunt's home in Hermosa Beach. It was a beautiful day with 80 degree weather and not a cloud in the sky. My mom and I woke up extra early to get everything ready, which wasn't very much since she and my cousin had done most of it already. We got ourselves ready and headed out the door. Once we got to the shower we set up, threw the food in the over and awaited the arrival of the guests. We ate lasagna and cheesecake, played some non traditional baby games, and giggled while we watched as the father (my cousin Anthony) opened all the pink gifts and tried things on. Before we knew it it was five o'clock. We packed up our stuff and went to say our goodbyes. As I went to hug my cousin he whispered in my ear that he wanted Darin and I to be his daughters godparents! I was completely taken aback and didn't expect that. I started to tear up and told him of course we would!

On Sunday, even though I was still exhausted from the shower and Darin was tired from partying it up with his coworkers the evening before (neither one of us are spring chickens anymore) we packed up the pup and headed over to my grandma's house to visit our goddaughter. (and the rest of the family too) I was surprised as to how well our pup took to the baby, even though she is seven weeks old, she is only 8 pounds and still teeny. Whenever the baby got fussy, Shelby got very upset and wanted to know what was wrong with her. She would sniff her head and hung out near her the whole time, it was very cute. I always knew that Darin was good with babies, but little Charlotte just loved him and he her. She is so precious, but I could just be biased. We ended up going shopping and getting little Charlee and glow worm and some clothes that said "Mommy" on them for my cousin Amy, you see she was feeling left out because all the clothes said daddy or grandma on them. We went back to the house and had some dinner and chatted some more. We asked when the christening was going to be, and they said sometime in June. I cannot wait to see this little precious child grow up! It's just too bad that they live 4 hours away. We will just have to make trips up and down to see each other.
