Reasons Why He Loves Me

A couple weeks back I saw a post that inspired me to have my hubby write a little blurb for my space on the internet. You always hear about the people in bloggers lives, but usually never hear from them first hand. I asked the hubby to give a couple of reasons why he loves me. I asked him to think outside the box, and my notes are after

People always list the reasons why they love their significant others.  So today I would like to do the same.  I have been married to my beautiful wife for almost 6 years now while being together 11 years.    Some of the reasons that I love her are, she is always looking out for my best interests, she is always there for me to talk to, she is always there to lend out a helping hand, She’s creative, and likes to goof around. 

Diane is always looking out for my best interests.  When I say best interests I mean, I’m diabetic and she will always give me pointers on how to improve my control.  And tell me not to eat that second helping of ice cream. Seriously, my hubby has the worst sweet tooth! I try to help him out by asking him if that's something he should have, or if there is a better option. However I am not perfect and sometimes eat the junk right along with him! 

I love the way that Diane is always there to talk to.  I might have had a bad day at work I know that I will always be able to talk to her about it and she will give me advice or just be an ear to listen. Well isn't that what love is about.....for better or worse? I of course am there to hear about his troubles and if I have any advice I will certainly give it! 

Diane is always willing to lend out a helping hand.  She is always willing to help friends plan a wedding, plan various parties, or use her amazing skills with Photoshop to edit photos for wall art in our friend’s houses. Haha....this is so true. Ask and ye shall receive. 

Diane is there to help me out in times of need also. Such as if I need help scratching my back.  Even though she hates doing it! Honestly, it's just gross to think about another person's dead skin cells under my finger nails. I bought him a back scratcher, but he says it's not as good....and honestly I used it and am now willing to scratch the mans back. That's love. 

Diane is very creative.  She is always finding new projects to do on Pinterest and putting her own little spin on them. I love to create....it's just in my genes. He used to say what a waste of time Pinterest was until I started finding awesome recipes and now he doesn't complain! It's the best place for EVERYTHING! 

I love how she also enjoys goofing around.  One time she went to Wal-Mart and got two water pistols and put a note on it for me to find when I got home that read “Games ON”.  That was a lot of fun.  Even though she CHEATED!!!!! Ok, let me clarify this....I did not cheat. He chased me onto our balcony and then shut the door, so everytime he opened the door I had a clear shot straight to his face. Clearly I had the advantage....by his choice! Hehe. Come to think of it, I need to bust out those water pistols again! 

Those are several reasons why I love my beautiful wife but I really couldn’t imagine my life without her. 

Awe that was such a sweet note that he wrote. Some of the things I thought he was going to say is how I am constantly singing songs, and knowing most of the words....70% of my brain is song lyrics. I also dance, A LOT. I'm always wiggling around our apartment. Also there's the fact that I can never finish a load of laundry in the same day.....I just let it pile up until there's like 4-5 loads to put away. I know, just do it all at once, it's faster.

So there you have it, some of the reason's my hubby loves me!

Bring on the Choo Choo

Well, back with the weekend recap and you'd think that because I had the extra day off that we would have really made it great. Well that really didn't happen and I don't really have much to show for it except one measly picture.

Friday night we tried to go see the FF6 movie. Well, we were a little absent minded and forgot to buy tickets early and once we got there the showing was sold out. Sad face. So, instead we went on a mission to find D the Son's of Anarchy season 5 dvd set. We have looked at Target in the past, so we went to Walmart and Best Buy. Neither of which had any of the items we were looking for, but scored on a couple of other movies to add to our collection. We went home, made some popcorn and put in one to cuddle and watch. Halfway through, D got a call from the security company at his work (at midnight) and he had to go and deal with that.

Saturday D had to work, again. So I did some photo updating and editing, pre-wrote a couple of posts and watched Game of Thrones SSN 2. I am finding that it's getting a bit strange and confusing.

Sunday we got up, had some donuts and relaxed a bit in the morning before heading out to see the movie. Honestly it had it's moments (like the one pictured) that really had my eye's rolling and the last 30 minutes especially at the end I was having a really hard time with it. But D really enjoyed it, so that's all that matters. Once home we did a thorough cleaning of the inside of my car and I put a new air freshener in to boot. I actually want to drive now because it's so clean! D called his mom to ask about leaving the pup with them next weekend while we go up north, and made plans for the next day's bbq.

Monday was laundry in the morning (fun) then we got ready and went over to D's parents for a B.B.Q. We grazed all afternoon and then had turkey burgers and hot dogs with all the fixin's. We all sat around the kitchen table and played Mexican Train dominoes. A two hour game that had us all laughing and having a great time, at one point too much laughing as my B.I.L. just had hernia surgery and was starting to feel a little pain. All's well though and we had a good afternoon.

So picking 9 of my favorite photos of the hubby and I was a little challenging. I went WAY back to the beginning and picked some oldies, but goodies to share with you.

This photo was taken in Big Bear and was meant to be used as our engagement photos, but we got them done at Sears professional ones done instead. 3. Our very first vacation together, Lake Tahoe. 4. Self explanatory, us on a tube in Lake Tahoe 5. Um Lake Tahoe again! (I noticed this theme after I made the collage! Haha. Oopsies!) 6. Our very first photo as a couple! 7. Us at the Wranglers semi-pro hockey game in Las Vegas. We were sporting Red Wings attire.....what you can see is the awesome little girl photo bomb behind us! I'll have to post that another time!

9. This is my most favorite photo of all. Our wedding. Even though you can't see his face, you can tell just how happy he is! I love the light and everything about this!

Friday Finds 5-24-13

This week has been a little crazy and stressful! What is it about full moons that just make everyone a little nuttier than they were before! Seriously, I just may lock myself in my apartment on this long holiday weekend and maybe catch up on some photo editing, blogging, Game of Thrones.....all in the comfort of my a.c.!

In an effort to make myself smile, lets go over all the great things I found this week on le intranet!

1. I have been trying with all my might to find a maxi dress, that has a tiered top. I found one in a store, that was waaaaaaaaaaaay too large in the bust, and have google searched my butt off trying to find it for less than a bazillion doll hairs! I asked all the ladies on my Facebook and my neighbor sent me the below dress from Tobi. It was adorable! It was also not in my size, sad face, and now two days later its not even on the site anymore! NO! Although plus side, I found a new online shop!

Another cute shop I found was Hot Miami Styles, both sites have really cute clothes for relatively decent prices!! I want this, this, these shoes, this cute scarf, this dress.....and if my hubby is reading this, my 30th birthday is coming up and I really like this bag, and this watch is really cute (even though I don't wear watches that often) and since I don't own anything that has come from that beautiful turquoise box this might be nice to add to my jewelry collection. Or we can just save our pennies for a home! Up to you!

2. I really like the look of this card from Wahine Inks. I have lots of thoughts for new creative projects all the time and I really want to start getting into paper crafting! I already have an idea in mind for this! :-D

4. I read this really great blog from Jenny Highsmith, entitled "Being married to a Blogger" written by her husband. He writes about being married to a creative blogger. I sent it to my hubby because I thought that he might be able to relate

6. I'm not one for the bathroom humor usually, but the the Ghosts in the Stalls video had me giggling endlessly. Maybe he just reminded me too much of Dane Cook and I had to share it with my cousin. Who proceeded to call me immediately after and we giggled some more re-enacting it!

There's all the things that this wonderful thing called the internet provided me with this week!!!!! Also as I mentioned above.....it's exactly one month until my dreaded 30th birthday. The hubby keeps asking what I want to do and I have NO IDEA. Any suggestions?!? Tonight we are celebrating by going to see Fast and the Furious Six.....save me now!

Chevron Stripes with the Weekend Update

Wow.....this post is super late today! Eep! Sorry. It was a crazy busy weekend! First off, can I say that I really don't like the update to the blogger app for IPhone. Every time I use it, it makes the quality of my photo's really poor and it formats them weird and left justified! I can't seem to fix it! Any advice? I guess I will just have to do it the ole fashion way....on the computer! Gasp!

Friday we did squat! I actually did some squats; ie; my squat challenge....110 squats. Boom. Other than that we had dinner and some beverages in the form of Blue Moon and watched our DVR.

Saturday, the hubby worked and I got up early to wrap the gift for the bridal shower and get everything ready for the day. I made this cute envelope for the bride to keep all of her honeymoon cash in. Got dressed in my new outfit and made my way to the shower. I was tasked with helping with the games, so I did the purse game and the winner happened to win because she had two mini margarita's stashed in her bag! The other game was you couldn't say the groom's name or you lost your badge. (see photo below) He is a sheriff and the badges had photos when he was little glued to them!

After the bridal shower, I picked up the hubby and we made our way over to our good friends college graduation party. There was a taco cart, cookies, snacks and of course CAKE. We stuffed our faces and chatted the evening away and forgot to take photos! OOPS! We celebrate her success anyways! YAY! Miss S!

Afterwards, we made our way to Relay for Life, if you haven't heard of it....it's a wonderful charity fundraiser for all types of cancer. While it's still hard for me to get through the luminarie presentation, its a wonderful event to support people in their fight or success in the battle of cancer, and to remember those who have lost their battle. The hubbs work is a big sponsor so he stayed the night to help man the booth, while I came home and actually slept! Shelby was very happy to be in the bed!

Sunday I got up and did my Saturday cleaning that I couldn't do. Shelby hates cleaning day because I don't just stay in one room....I'm constantly back and forth; stripping the sheets, to the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, organizing the kitchen, dusting.....the whole shebang. She also really hates that loud thing that sucks....(vacuum) hence why she is hiding just out of sight in the doorway to our bedroom.

One eye and an ear! But she can see me!

After all the cleaning, I finished up a project for a guest post that will be up at the beginning of June! Stay tuned for that! It's really cute.

The hubby cooked some hamburgers and I made smoothies for dessert. He went to bed fairly early (as only getting two hours sleep) and I spent the night re-watching The Tudors on Netflix and surfing Pinterest! I hope you had a great weekend! Looking forward to NEXT! Cold Tuna Pasta Salad

You guys, I don't know about you, but when it's really hot outside I don't feel like cooking....or eating...or doing anything really. Hehe. So last night, after a 105° day in SoCal it was the battle of what to have for dinner. The hubby had the day off so he made one of our go to summer staples for dinner. Cold Tuna Pasta Salad. It's light and refreshing, and because we make it relatively dry (with regards to the mayo) not all that unhealthy. Simple ingredients, and you only have to turn on the stove to boil the water, you won't even break a sweat. This recipe makes a lot so you can have it as a side for a BBQ or just have tons of leftovers!

Cold Tuna Pasta Salad

Ingredients:
Shell Noodles (We usually use the whole bag)
(2) cans Tuna
Mayonnaise (To taste)
(1) can Corn
2-3 Stalks Celery (Finely Chopped)
2-3 Green Onions (Finely Chopped)
2 handfuls Shredded Carrots
Salt and Pepper (To Taste)

Directions:
Cook shell noodles according to package directions. Fold all ingredients together. Refrigerate until ready to eat. (Will taste better the colder the pasta is!)

Simple and quick. Perfect for those late nights, or lunches! As you can tell by my other recipes, we love simple! But of course delicious!

A look into my habits and all about the Mom's weekend!

So the girls behind Coffee and Conversations opened up the topics to all the readers to submit questions for the discussion. A while back I submitted three or four questions and this week they are featuring one of my questions for the discussion. Unfortunately, it was the one question that I was least prepared to answer! What's the habit your most proud of breaking? So, I have a bad habit (pun intended) of starting a goal and not always following it through, so I thought that I would put down a couple of my biggies in an attempt to start really focusing on them and working them through.

1. I want to cut the soda out of my life. Diet cola is so bad for you, but since I am not really a coffee drinker I get my caffeine jolt from my daily Diet Pepsi. This has been an especially hard thing for me. I have cut it way back and usually only have one in the morning to have my pick me up and have water the rest of the day. However, there are those weeks when I am out of the office all week, having to get take out for lunch and I fall back into the soda habit and the cycle continues. My hubby, who had a worse addiction to the stuff has almost entirely cut it out, with the exception of one 12oz can a day! That's something to be proud of and I really want to be right there with him! Working on it!

2. I am a face picker/toucher! It's awful and I always have breakouts because of it! Then I pick the scab and make the ugly blemish worse! I have tried desperately to keep my hands off of my face as of late and have seen an slight improvement in my skin, but when I am stressed I go right back to rubbing and picking! SLAP! Stop it!

3. I over analyze EVERY situation. Anything that I can stew over for months at a time I usually will. If it happened I am probably still harping over it! It is really bad and not good for my psyche! I also over analyze situations that haven't happened! I will stress out over something that I think might happen, that actually never does! Sigh. Why do I do this to myself?!!?? I know this has been an ongoing lesson to myself and a major thing that I need to work on. I continue to grow within this aspect, but I still need to continue to work on this aspect of my life, and probably will have to for the rest of my life. Another area, that is along the same lines is going above and beyond to make others happy. Sometimes I go overboard when trying to help someone that I get over-involved and am left feeling under appreciated. I don't do things to get recognition, but when I am left feeling used and abused it really hurts me. I have stopped doing things for people who don't appreciate what I have done for them and try to only do the things that I want and would make my life better and happier. I love helping people and it does make me happy when someone asks for my input, or assistance. I love to give, but have learned to not give so much that my happiness is taken away from me.

Well I hope that was a good response, because honestly I haven't "broken" any habits yet, but continue to grow with each one and take a step further in the right direction. Lauren and Kalyn have decided to make this link up every other week, so my next post won't be until May 27th and the question in the pipeline is: How would you describe modesty for the modern woman & why is (or isn't) it important in today's world? 

And NOW, a recap of the weekend! We all know it was Mother's Day yesterday. A couple of years ago I made this little triptych as a tribute to the three wonderful women I have the privilege of calling mom. My own mom on the left, my step mom in the middle and my M.I.L. on the right. All these women are great people to have in my life and are people that I can talk to when I need to vent, ask for advice or just want to spend time with!

Anyways, lets go in order.....Friday was our typical night to spend time with friends and just hang out. We went over to our friend's Mr. L's for a celebration that his roommate has tolerated the craziness for an entire year! Go S! We had a lot of laughs, some good food, drinks and conversation! Always a blast!

Saturday, I drug my slightly hungover bootay out of bed and met my wonderful mom in Palmdale to treat her to lunch and some shopping. We both got some great comfy summer dresses and I can't wait to wear mine next weekend to all the parties that are going on! Whoop! We had a nice lunch at the Olive Garden and then wandered around the mall for hours. It was good because we got an unusual heat wave this weekend and temps soared to over 100° and it was sweltering outside ! I re-found my favorite conditioner at one of the salons! Off to stock up! Once we said our goodbyes, and I got her part of our gift for the shower, I made my way back home cooked us up some dinner and we caught up on some Game of Thrones Ssn 2! Oh how I missed it!

Sunday I awoke really early, because it was just so hot. I got up and continued to work on an upcoming project! It's starting to look good! Stay tuned for that bad boy! Patriotic and glittery, can we say of course!! We called my step mom and chatted with her for a bit, then the hubby and I got cleaned up and made our way over to his parents to celebrate with his mom. He cooked up some mean steaks and corn on the cob, and I made the salad and the rest of the sides. We toasted a good glass of wine and ended the meal with strawberry shortcake. We had great conversation and a lovely time.
