DIY - Diaper/Wipes Case Tutorial

I meant to post this tutorial months ago, but the pattern had caused a lot of heartache. So much that I had to re-write the entire thing. When you do that, then you have to post it so you don't forget!

When you spend all that money on your diaper bag, you know you want to fill in with useful but also cute items. Especially when you just want to run quickly to change the babies diaper and get back to what your task at hand is. Enter, the diaper/wipes case. They hold several diapers and a small pack of wipes in each. Pictured are the original diaper and wipes cases that I made and the ones that I made over the weekend. I am attending a baby shower this upcoming weekend and cannot hold it in to not post all of the fun things I made for her!

What You'll Need:
Back Template
Flap Template
1/4 yard or fat quarter heavy duty material for outside
1/4 yard or fat quarter for lining
1-1/4" of 5/8" velcro

Cutting:
1. Cut (1) back template out of each outside and lining material.
2. Cut (1) back and flap template out of each outside and lining material (See photo above)
3. Cut (1) 1" strand of 5/8" Velcro

Directions:

Say hi to my tootsies.
1. Sew one side of the 5/8" velcro to the larger lining piece, about 3/4"-1" down from the top. Sew the other side of the 5/8" velcro to the smaller outside fabric piece about 2-3/4" down from the top.

2. Place your large piece and small small piece of your outside fabric right sides together and sew a 1/4" seam. Clip your sew rounded edges. Repeat with the lining fabric.

3. Turn your lining fabric right side out. Leave your outside fabric inside out.

4. Place your lining fabric inside your outside fabric pocket. Align all edges together and pin; making sure to pin at the seams and around the flap. Leave a 4" gap at the flat end open for turning. Sew around the open area and the flap, making sure to backstitch at your opening for support. Clip your edges around the flap to make for easier turning.

5. Turn your project right side out and insert the lining into the body of the case. Fold in your opening 1/4" and pin the opening closed. Topstitch 1/4" around the flat opening and the flap to close your opening. Press and admire your work.

Embroidering on the flat is completely optional. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! I have many more to come for baby stuff so stay tuned!!!
